This I Promise You~ Part 7

It was already 3:30 pm the next day. Brian and Kayla had the ate a late lunch together around 3 and now we were getting ready to leave to the concert. She was so excited, practically shaking. Nick had gone back to his house around 3 and everyone else had left too. She walked back up to my room and began to get ready. Kayla noticed a tape laying on her bed with a note wrapped around it.

Dear Kayla,

I wrote this song last night and had to run to the studio to lay it down and see how it turned out. I think you will understand it the most, tell me what you think. I love you.

Love,

Nick

Kayla just sighed shaking her head, she wasn’t going to listen to it at first but then she couldn’t help the urge. First she got changed and had to decide what she wanted to wear. Kayla looked through her closet and then remembered the shirt AJ and Angel had bought her.

“Mine as well...won’t be able to wear it any time soon anyway,” she sighed.

Kayla threw on the white shirt and then put on a pair of black satin flares with rhinestones going down the sides. She slipped on some boots and then looked at herself in the mirror.

“Woah this is a damn short shirt,” she laughed, “Oh well, it matches the pants.”

She quickly fixed her hair and make-up then put back on her glasses. She loved her glasses, the thin gold oval frames just made her complete. She contemplated whether to put on contacts but decided to leave the glasses on. She gave herself the once over in the mirror, put on some perfume and then put the tape in the tape player.

Kayla listened to a few seconds of silence until a very catchy guitar beat started playing. She noticed that he must have been playing the guitar, since no one would have been there to play for him. Kayla started to listen to the words he was singing...

7 am thinkin’ bout’ you,

Wondering if the thoughts I’m feeling your feeling too,

Like a new born child,

Soft to the touch,

Baby is it possible to love someone so much,

I Wish I may,

I Wish I might,

Be that certain someone you wish for every night...

If you knew what I knew,

You wouldn’t say what you said,

If you knew what I knew,

We’d be together instead,

Of you breaking my heart,

Over things that aren’t true,

My lady, yes my lady,

If you knew what I knew

She sat there, refusing to let herself begin to cry, she didn’t want to ruin the night that she was about to have. But then Kayla realized she mine as well, because the tears that began to pour weren’t of sadness...yet of happiness, she did know what he knew. She listened again taking it in even more...

Time passes by,

the only tears I cry are filled with disillusion and fears I have inside,

like a lost soul,

I feel like I’m all alone,

If only I could feel your pain within your heart of stone...

Kayla got up and grabbed a piece of paper as the song continued to play.

Dear Nicky Poo’s,

The song is the most beautiful song I have ever heard, thank you for letting me be the first to hear it. I think there was a reason that you wrote it, and a reason that I was to hear it. I think I do know what you know...but I have to say what I say, I’m sorry.

Kayla

She sighed as she wiped away the few tears and looked in the mirror smiling. Kayla was not letting anything get her down, especially not some song. She smiled widely as she realized it was four. Kayla quickly ran to Nick’s room and laid the letter on his pillow and then bolted downstairs. She saw Brian sitting by the door.

“Woah...” he trailed off.

“Do I look all right?” she asked smiling already knowing the answer.

“All right? God, damn girl I better not take my eyes off you,” he laughed, “What no contacts?”

“You know how I hate them, I decided to keep my glasses, they do look all right, right?”

“Of course! Don’t worry about looking good, you look like a bomb shell already.”

“Well I figured this will probably be the only time I can where this in a while. Considering I will be out to here soon,” she motioned showing how big her stomach would soon be.

He laughed full heartily and then smiled, “True.”

“Well, can we go already! Oh and I brought the CD to listen to in the car!” Kayla smiled.

He just moaned, “EXCITING!!”

She nudged him, “Let’s get goin’ Rok.”

* * *

They had been driving in the car for about a half an hour listening to the Moffatts and jamming just having a good time.

“So did you like the guitar?” he asked.

She quickly shot her head in his direction, “What? How...how did you know?”

“Nick told me about it all, why do you think we all left like we did? I heard the two of you, singing, laughing...crying...”

She just looked at him and sighed, “I loved it Rok, and he loved the pick, he REALLY truly did. And I really truly loved the guitar, it was probably the nicest thing someone has ever done for me.”

“He loves you Kayla, a lot. He’s trying so damn hard...” Brian trailed.

“I know he does, I just don’t want to lie to him and tell him I do if I don’t.”

“I know Kay Bear, but right now honestly, inside your gut do you think you love him?”

She sighed heavily, “No comment.”

He just shook his head, “Kayla come on, open up.”

“So anyway, how exactly are we going to be at a concert without you getting mobbed?” she said changing the subject.

He noticed this and just let it go. “I brought a hat and sun glasses, these people are not going to be looking out for a Backstreet Boy, they are going to be looking for the Moffatts,” he laughed, “It’s weird being on the opposite side for once.”

* * *

They got there shortly after are little talk. She was surprised to see the girls, they were definitely fans, writing on their faces, signs and such. She just laughed a little. Brian quickly threw on his hat and sun glasses and the both of us began to walk to the stadium.

“You excited?” he asked smiling.

“More then you can imagine,” she said jumping up and down while they walked.

He just gave the ‘Brian’ laugh.

“You better not do that laugh,” she warned.

“And why not?”

“Cause’ only Brian Backstreet does that laugh,” she grinned.

He just pushed her and she pushed back, the concert had yet to start and they were already having fun.

* * *

When the show ended Kayla couldn’t believe how incredible their performance was. The outfits were scarce, which was the way she liked it...the more chest the better. They played their asses off and sang their asses off too. As everyone began piling out her and Brian sat down in their seats.

“We’re going to wait here for a little and then they will come. Let them get all that sweaty, nasty stuff off,” he laughed.

“Aww, but I LIKED the sweaty, nasty stuff,” she retorted.

She watched him take the hat and sun glasses off.

“For someone who didn’t really like the Moffatts you sure did your fair share of jumping and having fun. Look at your poor head your sweating like a pig.”

“Hey I never said I HATED them, the concert was VERY VERY good actually.”

She laughed and he did too. “So cuz how was it being on the opposite side, lustING over instead of lustED over?”

“Unique,” he grinned, “I think that about sums it up.”

They both started laughing until he saw Kayla’s jaw drop.

“Oh my God,” she said under her breath.

The four boys walked out to them and began to say their “hello’s.”
