CHAPTER Eleven- If I Could Only Sing, Taylor Hanson

This is great, I thought to myself, The festival is absolutely great. It had a stage were people were singing and right in front of the stage was a place where everyone was dancing. It was funny because I don’t see how Taylor thought of this as a festival. It was just a stage and dance space set up in an open field. But it was beautiful and I was enjoying myself. It was much better then the dance. The second song ended and I was in heaven.

“Close your eyes,” he whispered to me, “and don’t open them until I say so.”

“OK, ”I sighed. Taylor quickly ran on-stage. “Open,” he said from the microphone.

“Oh my god!” I whispered. I knew he was going to sing to me.

“This is a song I wrote and dedicate to my girlfriend, Breanne.” he said pointing to me. All eyes were fixed on me. They couldn’t believe he had a girlfriend. I was so embarrassed to be put on the spot, but proud that I was the girl he wanted to be with. He took his keyboard started playing then started singing a song I never heard before.

“...And I’ll try to love only you, and I’ll try my best to be true to you. Oh, baby I know I will,” he sang soulfully. I was so happy I almost keeled over. When he finished with his ballad he stepped down and walked over to me.

“If I could sing Taylor Hanson...if only I could sing,” I laughed.

“The stage is free go ahead,” he said extending his arm.

“No these lips are better are better at something else.” I kissed him long and deep. At the end he kissed me back. On the way home he stopped every two steps to give me a light kiss on the cheek. By the airport he stopped to give me something. He held out a little black box.

“Tay I can’t marry you,” I laughed.

“No, no, no. Just open it.” I opened the box and a beautiful necklace appeared. It had a thin gold chain with a set of golden lips on it. You took the necklace and placed it around my neck.

“Taylor, you shouldn’t have. It’s beautiful, ”I smiled.

“You kiss so well,” he laughed. We both laughed harder.

“You really shouldn’t have though,” I smiled looking at the beautiful necklace.

“But I wanted to. Now when you aren’t with me you will always remember me. You always have a piece of me.”

“Thank you a trillion, billion times,” I cried. We got home and walked strait to the couch.

“I don’t want this night to end,” I sighed.

“Then it won’t,” he said smiling, “Do you want a drink?”

“Yeah, please.” We both got up to get drinks in the kitchen. As we opened the refrigerator there was a note,

Dear Kids, Look at what time is it! Where were you? We are going to bed. Zac, Lynn and Ike are out like a light in their beds. Go to sleep. You have a big day tomorrow. A lot of stuff to move. We love you.

Love,

Your parents

“Wow, we were out that long? Oh well!” Tay laughed and sighed. We both laid down on the floor in the living room. Neither of us had the strength to go to our rooms. We quietly made a bed on the floor and fell fast asleep.
