“Get in!” Ike yelled coldly.
“Calm down Ike, please,” Tay begged rushing into the car.
“How can I, Mom is dyeing!” he yelled. Elizabeth grabbed Ike’s arm tightly.
“Isaac Hanson! She is not dyeing and she won’t die. Baby please calm down. Your brothers are right,” Elizabeth soothed sternly.
“I need to find the Hanson family,” Taylor said fast.
“Yes, they are over there,” the women said pointing to the end of the right hallway. We ran over and down the hall. They saw their father and my parents. The little ones sat quietly not really comprehending what was going on around them. I could tell from the adults faces that they had all been crying at one point.
“Dad!” they all yelled as the held on to him tight.
“Boys, oh boys thank you for coming! Your mom...well we haven’t been able to see her yet,” he cried.
“How is she?” Isaac asked with tears in his eyes.
“The doctors say she got worse but not to worry. They are trying. And that once she has the baby she will be fine. The baby on the other hand will have a slim chance of living. The next few hours are critical. So just sit tight,” he said looking into their hurt eyes.
Tay sat next to me. “Please let her live.” I heard him whisper behind my shoulder.
“She will, didn’t you hear your father?” I whispered back.
“Yeah, but that’s once that baby’s out. But right now it’s life or death.”
“Tay, she’s strong. She is the strongest women I know.”
“I hope so,” he cried.
“You don’t hope so, you KNOW so.”
“Dad!” Tay yelled, “How did Mom get sick anyway?”
“Well, at first we thought it was morning sickness, but then she got very sick,” he said sighing once again.
“Oh, god. Please help her,” he prayed aloud. Tay put his face in his hands and knelt down. I rubbed his back and started to cry loudly. My mom heard me and came rushing over. She grabbed me tight.
“It’s all right honey. I promise nothing bad will happen.”
“Zac, that’s life, but nothing bad will happen. I promise. Please.”
“Ike I love her too. Even if I don’t know her.”
“Isaac come here,” Walker said.
“Yes?” Isaac answered standing by his side.
“Who’s that girl?” he asked pointing towards Elizabeth.
“She’s a girl I met in Connecticut. Elizabeth. And yes, we got close, and she is my girlfriend. She’s staying with Bre for a week because her mom and Bre’s mom are best friends and they are best friends to. Dad I needed her here.”
“Isaac that’s fine. She can stay with us if you would like. Congratulations.”
“Thanks dad, but Bre’s house will be better.”
“Yes it probably will be,” he said patting him on the back.
“Mom as you noticed Elizabeth came. Her and Ike are going out now and so she came with us. I told her mom you would watch her...that’s OK right?”
“Of course it is,” she said smiling, wiping the tears from my eyes. I walked back over to Tay.
“How are you holding up?” I asked.
“Better...I guess,” he said groggily.
“Mr. Hanson?” the doctor said loudly. We all stood up and listened closely.
“She had the baby. The baby looks like it will be fine and so does she. It is a baby girl. There can always be complications throughout the night but so far that is unlikely. We never found out what was wrong with her, but she asked to see her boys now.”
“Yes. Thank you doctor,” he said smiling. Tay hugged me tight and walked with Zac and Ike to their mothers room. They all walked in to see their mother lying down on her hospital bed, with IV’s put in both her arms. Her eyes looked like tiny slits. But she was still able to greet them.
“Boys you made it,” she smiled widely, “I thought I would never see you again.” They each went over and hugged her tight, none of them wanted to let go. She had given them life, and taught them all the important lessons to life, if she was to ever leave none of them knew what they would have ever done.
“Oh my boys. On a happier note the baby was a beaming little girl,” she sighed.
“What did you name her mom?” Zac asked.
“Zoe.”
“I love that name mom,” Isaac smiled, “I have more good news though. Bre’s friend from Connecticut Elizabeth and I hooked up and have been dating. She came Mom. You will get to meet her.”
“Congratulations,” she said holding out her arms and he once again gave her a hug and kiss.
“God, I don’t know what I would do without you Mom,” Zac sighed, “I love you,” he embraced her but shook a little.
“It’s all right Zac. Don’t be scared, you can’t break me,” she laughed. He laughed back.
“Boy’s why don’t you go and send the girls in. The doctors say I will stay overnight so I will see you tomorrow...I love you all.”
“Bye mom,” they all said as they kissed her and left the room.
“Hi, I’m Elizabeth,” she whispered.
“Hello,” she said smiling widely. She was so happy that Elizabeth was so courteous.
“Girls I am so glad to see you.”
“OK guys, you know the drill. We have 5 empty rooms so find when and go to bed. Goodnight,” My mom said kissing each of us.
“Goodnight mom, I love you. I love you more then anything,” I held her tight. Until that night I never realized how important she was to me and how much of a part of my life she was. If anything ever happened to her I would be lost forever.
“I love you to Bre.” No one bothered to change. We all went into our rooms and fell fast asleep.
“Zac?” Lynn asked stunned.
“Lynn?” he asked back closing the door tight.
“Zac what are you doing...” she began.
“Shh,” he covered her mouth. He gently got in the bed and laid on top of her. He had been so upset that whole night he needed to be with Lynn. Even though his mother had been sick he still loved Lynn and wanted to be with her for that one night. He knew that his mother was all right.
“Can we be bad?” he asked.
“Zac I don’t think so, what if someone comes in?”
“No one will,” he pleaded. Lynn didn’t know why she was giving in to such a situation but she did. She had on a zipper up shirt that Zac slowly un-zippered. He began kissing her stomach and up to her lips. He ran his hands through her dark hair and kissed her neck deeply. He quickly got her shirt fully off and through it across the room and his was soon to follow. She began to rub his back hard and gasp for air. He kissed her shoulders and down her shoulder blades not missing a spot. She instantly began kissing his chest. Suddenly, she un-did his pants.
“Take them off,” she gasped. He threw off his pants and ran his hands down to the top of her pants. For the first time she invited him to take them off of her.
“Are you sure?” he asked breathing heavily.
“Yes,” Lynn squeaked out. Soon all their clothes laid at the foot of their bed and their sweaty bodies laid near each other breathing heavily in their sleep. That night Lynn and Zac had both felt as if everything inside of them had broke. Though what they encountered was painful at first, they both shared it intimately. That night they both did something they loved and would soon regret for the rest of their life. That night they both had sex...unprotected.
“Zac wake up!!” She yelled.
“What?” he asked opening his eyes slightly.
“You fell asleep in my room!! And...get...dressed...” she said slowly realizing and thinking back to the night before collapsing inside. It had gone so fast last night that it almost never happened...but it did. It quickly it Zac and he sat stunned as well.
“Lynn, we had sex...” he began. Lynn looked around the room and the only words that went through her head were words of fear.
“We weren’t protected Lynn,” Zac whispered so softly Lynn almost couldn’t hear him as her looked at her glassed over eyes.
“Zac help me!” she cried. They both through on their clothes and sat back down on the bed in each others arms.
“Lynn, if you are pregnant or whatever happens, you know, after unprotected sex you know I am here for you,” he said soothingly looking deep into her fear filled eyes. She didn’t feel at all comforted by Zac’s little speech. For all she knew he didn’t know the first thing about sex, yet he just had it, which he was great at. She felt alone, helpless and dirty all at once.
“Zac I am really scared,” she cried, “I gotta talk to Bre. We have to tell them.”
“First take one of those tests to see if you really are pregnant.”
“Zac, those don’t work until like a week after the sex accrued,” she cried louder. It was then Zac realized he had no knowledge in the topic of pregnancy and sex, but his gut instinct was guiding him.
“Just take it, for me,” he begged.
“Fine,” she said giving in. Luckily for them they were up before anyone and Zac had just enough time to creep back to his room without getting caught.
“We are going out today and we really aren’t hungry for breakfast. We are leaving now, bye,” Zac said quickly as they left the house. Though their dismissal was vege and confusing and not at all detailed we all waved good-bye.
“Zac where are we going?” Lynn asked trying to keep up with him.
“To a drug store to buy a pregnancy test.”
“What? You actually think I should take one? You actually think it will be accurate? I told you Zac...they don’t work until...”
“Lynn I don’t know what to think. But I DO know that we had un-protected sex and I am only 13 and you are only 13 and that I don’t know the first thing about this. Which makes me feel horrible and confused and right now the one thing that I do know we should do is have you take that test,” he said quickly cutting off Lynn’s sentence.
“OK,” Lynn said being very scared. They both walked up to the nearest CVS and went in. They walked through all the isles and finally came to the isle were the tests were. Zac looked at them all and burned inside with humiliation. Worse off, condoms were arranged right near the pregnancy and he looked at them with horror knowing that with just ONE of those none of this would have happened. He knew that God was giving him signs, signs that he did a very wrong thing.
“Lynn, please just get one. I really don’t like this isle much,” he said not exactly giving Lynn eye contact.
“I don’t understand any of these. Zac...”she said in a begging voice.
Finally Zac just grabbed one of the boxes and placed it in her hands. “How much easier could it be?” he said pointing to the back, “If it’s blue you are if it’s not your not...” he said getting aggravated. Lynn didn’t say anything, she couldn’t blame him for being angry...this wasn’t easy for him, nor for her. She grabbed the box and walked over to the cashier.
“What are you kids doing, buying a pregnancy test?” she asked. When she said kids, Zac freaked. Exactly, kids. We are just kids, he thought. Lynn on the other hand had to get a cover up.
“My mom needs it,” she said quickly back.
“Oh well tell her I said good luck,” she smiled.
“I will,” Lynn said half smiling taking the bag and walking quickly out.
“What if the so called, ‘Mom’ is 13 and still a kid...that doesn’t exactly want a kid of her own,” she whispered softly.
“Then the 13 year old girl’s boyfriend does this,” Zac said pulling her close and kissing her gently. It was the first thing Zac had done that morning to make Lynn feel better inside. She felt relived that Zac was finally understanding what was happening.
“We’ll go to my house. No one is there and we can get this done with, I’m sure it will be fine,” Zac smiled grabbing her hand.
“I hope so,” she smiled back. They walked slowly about 3 blocks until they finally reached Zac’s house. Lynn sighed deeply as Zac unlocked the door and they both walked in. Lynn was anxious and ran into the bathroom. Zac sat down quietly on the couch waiting for Lynn to peek back out.
“We have to wait five minutes,” she said placing her hands on his shoulders then sitting down.
“Great,” Zac sighed. They both were so anxious to see what it was going to say...they both were praying for it not to be blue. Everything seemed to go so slow. They both were sweating and Zac was holding Lynn in his arms.
“Whatever it is, you know I am here for you right?”
“Yes,” Lynn said as the timer went off. Lynn walked slowly to the closed bathroom door. Her eyes closed and she took a deep breath as she opened the door very slowly. Zac stood up and waited by the couch. Lynn stood in awe as she looked at the pregnancy test.
“Z...z...Zac,” she stuttered walking out of the bathroom, “I...It’s B...bl...blue.”
“What?” he asked stunned taking the test out of her hands, “Your...pr...pregnant.” She collapsed in his arms. Her eyes burned and her tears stung. She couldn’t breath and she just clung on to Zac so she wouldn’t fall. She felt like passing out. He sat her on the couch and grabbed her tight.
“We don’t know for sure though baby, remember what you said? These things don’t work this fast, it could be wrong,” he said beginning to let his tears fall.
“I know, that’s not why I’m crying. I have to tell my mom!! I have to have her take me to the doctor! I have to tell her how horrible I have been and how irresponsible I was,” she cried louder.
“It’s OK baby. It’s going to be just fine, she is going to understand I promise, I won’t let anything happen to you,” he said picking up her chin.
“I want to talk to Bre. Get her and Tay over here,” she cried again. She continued to cry in the background as Zac quickly dialed Bre’s number, lucky for him Bre picked up.
“Bre? This is Zac...can you and Tay come to my house please?”
“Sure, we’ll be right over,” Bre said suddenly. Zac hung up the phone quickly and brought Lynn back into his arms as they cried together.
“This,” he said holding up the blue pregnancy test.
“Is that what I think it is?” Tay asked cautiously.
“Yeah...Lynn’s...pregnant, we think,” Zac cried.
“What? How?” Tay asked astonished.
“Tay don’t make me get into the logistics, you know damn well how. Last night Lynn and I had un-protected sex.”
“Zac, kissing is fine but you shouldn’t even had thought about sex. I mean it’s not all you, but she can get really sick, she is way to young to even carry a baby.”
“I know. But worse off she has to tell her mom and then go to the Gynecologist. This test could be wrong...I mean they don’t work till like a while afterwards anyway.”
“Zac I can’t believe this,” Tay sighed.
“Bre I have something to tell you,” Lynn cried grabbing one of my hands.
“Why are you crying? What’s wrong?”
“Well, Zac and I got carried away last night and we had sex,” she cried louder.
“What? Were you protected?” I asked in awe. After about a minute of silence she spoke up, “No, and I took a pregnancy test today and it was positive, it was blue. I am pregnant!” she yelled loudly falling into my arms as she did in Zac’s. The one word I did not want to hear come out of Lynn’s mouth did. I froze as she cried in my arms.
“Lynn...did you not see Diana? Did you see what happened? That could happen to you. Lynn I am scared for you. I don’t want that to happen to you, how can you be so irresponsible?”
“I don’t know Bre. I don’t know anything anymore. I just give up. I am scared too. Now I have to tell my mom, better yet your mom...I can’t tell my mom...I have to tell your mom.”
“You can tell her all you want Lynn,” I helped her up, “Let’s go see Tay and Zac.”
“What you guys did was wrong. You know that. Bre and I shouldn’t have to tell you about sex. You already know. But why?” Tay asked.
“We didn’t mean to we just got carried away,” Zac whispered in a sigh.
“Well you shouldn’t have even been in Lynn’s room to begin with Zac. But why weren’t you protected?” he asked again.
“I don’t know Tay. I guess we just forgot,” Zac said looking down at the ground wiping away his tears.
“Well when you are having sex you don’t forget,” I said sharply. They both just looked knowing I was right.
“We better get Ike and Elizabeth, they would be able to talk more on this subject,” Tay said picking up the phone. As he picked up the phone it was soon hung up.
“They are coming right over,” he replied.
“OK Ike. You need to tell Lynn and Zac about sex, because they had it and Lynn took a pregnancy test and it was positive because they weren’t protected,” Tay blurted.
“WHAT? ZAC YOUR 13!!” Ike yelled. Elizabeth’s eyes widened. Neither of them could believe it.
“Well Zac. Answer me this...when and how?”
“For the last time. Last night. We were fooling around and got carried away. I snuck into Lynn’s room last night. I know it was wrong but, Ike we love each other.”
“I’m happy that you two think you have a serious relationship going here, but you can’t be doing this. You are thirteen...do you see where I am coming from?” Ike asked.
“Yeah,” they both sighed, “But it was BY MISTAKE!!” Zac yelled.
“Zac I understand that, but you shouldn’t have even been thinking about sex, your too young,” Tay fought back.
“Tay let me talk,” Ike continued, “Zac Tay’s right and wrong. It is all right for you to be curious about sex and ask questions, but you shouldn’t try it out. Now Lynn,” Isaac said steering his vision towards her, “You know that you played an equal part in this too. Now you are scared to death that when you go to the doctor it will be a false alarm. But Zac, you don’t have to tell anyone, while Lynn has to tell someone.”
“Can I say something?” Elizabeth asked. We all stared at her and she just stared back.
“You guys have been going on and on repeating the same things to them,” Liz began, “They know what they did. We shouldn’t have to tell them. Zac and Lynn you both know that what you did was wrong and that what you are about to face is your punishment and you deserve it. I don’t mean to sound mean but it is true in every aspect.”
Lynn ran up the Liz and hugged her tight, “I understand everything you just said and so far it makes the most sense,” Lynn smiled.
“Good,” she smiled back. Tay grabbed me tight and whispered in my ear, “I will never let that happen to you, I promise.”
“I know,” I whispered back softly.
“I can’t believe Lynn would actually want to go that far, I mean I never knew she was like that,” Elizabeth said.
“I know, I can’t believe Zac either. They are so young, have far have you ever gotten Lizzy?” he asked looking at her.
“Me? Before? I have never had sex or anything close to it,” she replied, “What about yourself?”
“Same here,” he smiled.
“I still can’t believe it,” Elizabeth said in awe.
“I know. I just hope Zac didn’t pressure her into anything that she didn’t want to do. But then again, Zac was so scared that I doubt he did,” Ike thought aloud.
“Yeah I know. They must have just...wanted...to do it!” she smiled. They both laughed.
“You know Elizabeth, I would never do that to you. I am much more mature then that.”
“I know,” she laid her head on his shoulder, “But let’s not make them look bad ones. I mean they didn’t expect this to happen. I mean would they really want to get themselves that scared?”
“Yeah I know. Well lets go see my Mom now,” Ike smiled taking Liz’s hand as they walked outside. They both saw Zac, Lynn, Tay and Bre sitting in Ike’s car just staring at them whistling.
“What?” Ike asked as they got in the car.
“We needed to wait for you asshole, thanks for taking your time,” Tay moaned.
“Your welcome!” Ike smiled. We all snickered while Tay groaned to himself.
“Off to the hospital,” Ike smiled sarcastically.
“God knows we’ve been there enough,” Tay moaned.
“Tay, don’t say that,” I said sharply. Meanwhile Lynn had her head on Zac’s shoulders the whole time. She had stopped crying because she forced herself to believe it was a false alarm, which made her feel much better. We pulled up to the hospital and parked in the over sized parking lot.
“We are here to see Diana Hanson,” Isaac smiled to the girl behind the counter.
“I’m sorry but she just left on her way home with the baby. Everyone was in perfect health,” the women smiled happily.
“Well that’s just dandy!” Tay imitated her as he walked away, “Back to the car,” he complained under his breath.
“Ha, ha. And you know something Ike? I don’t want you in my face today,” Tay said in a snooty voice. As Ike dried up to their house Diana was just walking out of the sidewalk. Before we could even finish pulling in the driveway Zac jumped out of the moving car and bolted to his mothers side.
“Mom!” he yelled.
“Hi Zac,” she smiled.
“How’s Zoe mom?” Tay asked walking up behind her.
“Fine and yourself?” she asked.
“Fine,” Ike butted in.
“She asked ME Ike,” Tay yelled.
“I know,” he said laughing.
“Ah, it’s great to be home! I mean I feel perfectly fine,” Diana sighed smiling very contently.
“Mom, please calm down. You are taking this a little too fast,” Tay said. She shook her head in agreement and headed to her room with Zoe in her arms. Walker walked over to the boys.
“Boys, you will sleep here tonight. In fact stay here. You are not going to do anything today. Your mother would appreciate it if you stayed in the house today. Girls, please head on home.”
“Sure, bye Tay,” I kissed him gently, “See you tomorrow.”
“Bye,” he replied. The three of us walked out of the house and proceeded down the sidewalk a few houses and then we got to the front of mine where my mom dashed up to us. She was smiling more then ever.
“Lynn, your parents just stopped by! They are here! I can drive you there if you would like,” my mom offered.
“Oh mom, Diana is home but no visitors today,” I smiled.
“Even more good news! I will have to stop by tomorrow,” she smiled.
“Wait, wait, wait. How far is my house from here?” Lynn sighed.
“Not too far. You continue going down this road, hook a right and then go down the next road about 3 houses.”
“Oh, that’s nothing. I will walk home!” Lynn smiled.
“OK, have fun!”
“Mom I am going to go too!” I laughed happily for no real reason.
“No, Bre stay here, we need to talk. Elizabeth can you please go with Lynn, Bre will catch up with you guys later.”
“Sure bye!” they both said walking off. As I followed my mom into my house I wasn’t exactly sure what I had done. The past few days I KNEW I didn’t cause any trouble. We both sat in the sun lightened living room.
“Now Bre. Your father and I have decided to go on a skiing trip in Vermont. Would you and the gang like to come?” she asked. I instantly perked up.
“Really? YEAH!! When? Even though I have only skied once in my life it will be AWESOME! Especially for the boys right before they leave. Where are we staying?”
“We will leave in two days. We have already reserved tickets and we rented a house on the mountain. Your father and I were just going to go with your Aunt and Uncle but they backed out last minute so be bought a few more tickets and decided to take you guys. We will stay for two days and then come back. So what do you think?”
“I think that THIS SOUNDS GREAT!! Let’s just hope everyone can and will want to come.”
“I’m sure they will,” she smiled. I got up and smiled.
“Bre, please spend the night here, and the rest of the day. You can go tell Lynn and Liz and help unload but then come home.”
“Sure. What about Liz?”
“She is staying with Lynn tonight. Her parents insisted.”
“OK, cool! I will be right back!”
“Sure sweetie.”
“Hello,” they both said smiling at me.
“I came to help un-pack but I see I arrived to late,” I sighed taking a breath from my running.
“Well, yeah, but that’s OK!” Lynn commented, “Vata don’t eat that box! Vata get over here! Bad girl Vata!” Lynn said picking up the little puppy and putting her on her leash. I laughed.
“Vata stop tugging!!” Lynn warned. I giggled, “I have some great news!”
“So tell, tell!” Liz urged. After I explained the situation to the both of them their eyes lit up in delight.
“All of us?” Lynn asked again not being able to believe it.
“Yeah, you, Zac, Me, Tay, Liz and Ike. We would have the weekend to do whatever and then leave Monday. We would get back Wednesday and then the boys would leave Monday.”
“Well I know I am in. I LOVE to ski!” Liz smiled wider then ever, “I just hope my mom says it’s all right. It should be though, I mean I am already away from home so I would just be away, away from home!” she laughed.
“Great! Lynn?”
“I’ve never skied before...”she began.
“So I’ve skied once and I don’t even know how to stop! Plus my parents will be there if we get hurt!”
“OK, count me in too! I will ask tonight!,” she said giving in.
“So will I and then we both will give you a definite tomorrow,” Liz laughed as she saw Vata sitting eating the corner of another box.
“Great! Shall we go ask the boys? I know we aren’t suppose to go over there but I am sure a short conversation will be OK,” I grinned.
“Yeah let’s go,” Lynn said, “Mom, Dad, I am tieing Vata up right here. I will be right back.”
“OK,” they both replied.
“Can we come in so we can talk to you guys?” I asked.
“Sure,” he said walking over to Elizabeth. He moved close enough and kissed her deeply. Suddenly Ike heard a coughing that sounded to familiar. He turned around and saw his father starring at the both of them. Liz quickly ran off sitting with the rest of us on the couch.
“Sorry dad,” Ike said blushing.
“Just don’t let me catch you kissing like that again young man,” he said sternly, “Or at least not for a little while.
“Yes sir,” Isaac commanded as he sat down near all of us.
“So what’s up now?” Zac asked.
“Well my parents,” I began, “made arrangements to go skiing in two days. They were originally going with my Aunt and Uncle but they backed out last minute so now they want to take us. So do you want to?” I asked beggingly.
“Of course! I live to ski! It is the bomb yo!!” Zac laughed, “How long will we stay?” he asked turning back into his normal voice.
“For two days. We will leave Monday get back Wednesday.”
“Bre, Ike and I have skied before but...well...we....suck big time,” Tay said being embarrassed.
“That’s all right. Since Zac can ski well and Lynn can’t they can go together. Then Liz here is like the BEST skier so she can show Ike,” I smiled proudly knowing I found a good solution.
“Lynn, you’ll be in strong hands,” Zac said in a buff voice.
“That’s EXACTLY what I am afraid of,” Lynn laughed.
“Hey Ike, don't worry,” Liz smiled taking his hand.
“I’m not worried...just embarrassed.”
“Don’t be that either,” she laughed.
“And, Tay. Well we will be the ones on the ground most of the time since I suck too!” I laughed.
“Really? GREAT!!” he yelled giving me a big hug.
“Well we all should be going. We’ll see you guys tomorrow so we can get an answer! Bye!” we all said walking towards the door. The boys stood up and waved to us. Liz and Lynn began to walk one way as I walked the other.
“Lynn wait!” I yelled.
“What?” she asked. I quickly walked up to her while Liz kept walking.
“When are you going to talk to my mom?” I asked.
“I’m going to wait. My gut instinct is telling me it is a false alarm and I think so too. I think I am just gonna wait it out,” she smiled beginning to walk away again. I grabbed her arm.
“Lynn don’t do this. You have to talk to someone. You can’t just say you aren’t pregnant. I know that test might have been wrong...but it could have been right to, please,” I begged.
“No Bre. I am sorry but I am going to wait. If I start getting symptoms or feeling yucky then I will go and talk. But I can’t do it now, I’m sorry, just don’t be mad at me for doing what I believe in,” she answered.
“I am not mad at you at all, just worried. But if that is how you want to play it go right ahead. The only person that can change your mind is you and the only person that can tell you, you are doing the wrong thing is you,” I sighed. She hugged me tight, “Please Bre, just trust me on this one,” she begged.
I hugged her back, “I trust you Lynn.”
We let go of our embrace and she caught up to Liz on the sidewalk. I began to walk home feeling horrible inside knowing that Lynn had made the worst choice she ever could have.

Chapter 19
