Today was an exception though, they were having a show in Lexington, her home town along with Brian and Kevin. It was 10:00am and Kayla was more nervous then ever...Brian had talked her into going and seeing her parents with him. No one else, just the two of them...and she had agreed. They had drove to the house silently, not really knowing what to say or expect. When they pulled up to Kayla’s house they noticed her parents were home, both of them.
“Ready?” Brian asked as they stood at the door.
“Yeah, I guess,” she said patting her now enormous 7th month old belly.
She rang the doorbell and waited for the door to open. When it did she couldn’t believe she stood face to face with both her parents.
“Hi,” she said softly.
Both her parents just looked at each other and then her and Brian.
“Hello Brian,” her mother said smiling towards Brian.
“Hi Joan,” he mused smiling fakely still hating the woman.
Kayla stood there waiting for her mother to acknowledge her. Brian stared at Kayla’s mother, watching her just look at Kayla, she was expressionless.
“Well thanks for stopping by Brian,” Richard said politely.
When they went to shut the door Brian burst.
“What is your problem?!” he yelled furiously, “I brought your DAUGHTER here to see you and you don’t even care to take notice, don’t you have any heart?!”
“None for that thing,” Joan said sticking her nose in the air stingily.
Brian just looked at the tears streaming down Kayla’s face. By now she was used to names because since she was with Nick she had been called MANY things. But hearing it from her mother, she just couldn’t stand it.
“Mom, mom why can’t you love me? Why can’t you just understand that I still love you? I know that I made a mistake, all that I can do is hope that you made a mistake too,” she begged.
“Excuse me, but no one asked you to speak, you, you, slut,” her mother scolded.
Brian’s face turned crimson with anger. He couldn’t stand seeing this, he didn’t believe in this. He didn’t see how parents could possibly feel this hate...he knew there was still love. There had to be.
“Fine then, I don’t care anymore. I’m taking Kayla home, she is more happy with me anyway. And I can guarantee you she is nothing that you perceive her to be. She is a beautiful and well endowed woman with a wonderful loving boyfriend. Leigh-Anne and I are much better parents then you are anyway! And so are Kevin and Kirsten! Just stay away from her!” he warned as he took her in his arms and started walking her to the car.
“That won’t be hard, I never want to see her again!” Joan yelled as Richard nodded in agreement.
