“Are you OK?” Brian asked in the private elevator.
“I’m fine. I’ve just become numb to them, and I want you to know that you, Leigh, Kev and Kirsten are so much better then them. Thank you for loving me,” she smiled.
He hugged her lightly, “You don’t need to thank us for that.”
“Hey Aubrey I have plans for us tonight!” his girlfriend Carisma yelled out to him from the kitchen in his house.
He still lived at home with his parents as did she. Neither pursued college, she was a waitress and he worked at a local car repair shop. Her parents were very wealthy and pretty much gave her and him anything they wanted or needed. Something that they would both probably regret down the road.
“And what would that be?” he called back walking up to her and kissing her neck.
“I got tickets for a concert. You know how I love the Backstreet Boys, so we’re going,” she grinned.
He quickly put two and two together and froze up. He knew that Kayla was dating Nick, and he knew that Kayla would be there, carrying his baby. He didn’t want to see her, not because he felt guilty or pain, but he didn’t want her to yell at him with Carisma around. She knew about it, she didn’t care, he just didn’t want to get yelled at. He figured he would make her happy and go anyway.
“OK babes,” he smiled.
“Good then we have a few hours before the show, so lets get ready. Their really good seats, first row, my daddy got them for me,” she grinned.
Kayla sat in her hotel room with Leigh-Anne. The boys had gone to the venue already because the show was starting in about an hour. Since this was their last show Nick asked her to attend it. She agreed because he had made sure there would be security by her and Leigh-Anne at all times. The other girls were with the guys, but Leigh knew that Kayla didn’t want to go so early. Plus she knew that Nick had a surprise in store for Kayla and he had to plan it all out right before she got there.
“So are you excited?” Leigh asked smiling as she fixed her make-up in the mirror.
“Yeah, nervous too,” Kayla admitted, “I really have never been around their fans much.”
“Well I have and I think that you will be fine. I mean there are many that will down mouth you, but you’ve dealt with it before, it shouldn’t be new to you. But trust me, there will be many girls there routing you on!” she informed.
She turned around and looked at Kayla just shaking her head smiling. She had never seen a stronger woman.
“Are you sure this looks all right? I mean I want to look nice for tonight, but being pregnant sure limits you,” she sighed.
She had on a black dress that was cut to her knees. It had small rhinestones all over it. Her shoes were platform sandals that matched the dress. She wore a black velvet shall over the sleeveless dress.
“You look fabulous. You should be proud of your body, your bearing a child,” she smiled, “Don’t be afraid, I mean the dress is suppose to be tight to show off your cute belly.”
Kayla just smiled, “All right, well then lets go.”
The car had driven them to a secret backstage door that the guards led them in. The opening act was on now so it was very loud because they were under the stage. Most of the girls were already in the audience so it was safer. A long hallway led them to the dressing room at the end.
Leigh-Anne smiled, “This is Backstreet Girl lifestyle, get used it. See you had it easy before, now your ready for the big time,” she mused.
Kayla just elbowed her lightly laughed as Leigh knocked on the door. She was greeted by AJ opening it. Leigh quickly brushed past AJ to wrap Brian in her arms.
“Hey girl you look damn good!” AJ laughed rubbing her belly, “Aww, look at how cute it is!”
“Oh shut up AJ!” she laughed.
She ran over and wrapped Nick in her arms, “Hey sweetie.”
He just gawked at her, “You just get more and more beautiful as I look at you.”
She blushed lightly, “And so do you.”
“OK guys hate to break it short but girls it’s time you guys go sit cause we’re on in ten minutes,” one of their guards motioned.
All the girls got up and started walking away. Kayla gave a last ‘I love you kiss’ to Nick and walked out holding Leigh’s hand for support.
Aubrey was sitting in his seat the show already bored him, but he could tell Carisma was having an awesome time so he was happy. He hadn’t seen Kayla until he saw her come out of attached to the stage. There was a big gap between the stage and the first row. Their were five chairs in front of him and he was wondering what they were for, and he soon learned it was for their girlfriends...Kayla.
“Jesus Christ,” he moaned aloud.
“Oh my God guys,” Kayla said a little shaken.
“It’s OK Kayla, the crowds are always this hyper, don’t worry the guards are around us,” Alicia comforted.
“No, no, no...our seats,” she stuttered.
“What about them sweetie?” Kirsten asked.
“We’re sitting right in front of Aubrey and his girlfriend,” she motioned as they all looked over. Leigh’s eyes bulged, that was Aubrey, his long blond hair was one of a kind.
“It’s OK, just be kind, say ‘hello’ and end it,” she said as they walked over to their chairs.
As all the girls sat down Kayla nodded her head towards Aubrey, “Hello Aub, nice seeing you again,” she yelled over the music.
He just nodded back to her and she sat down. She heard a few girls trying to get their attention, calling all of them names. Most of them went towards her and Leigh-Anne though. Leigh because she was marrying Brian and her because she took ‘their beloved’ Nick. She just laughed it off.
The concert went on smoothly and Kayla was enjoying herself to the most extent. She couldn’t jump around, but she could sure scream. She was very overwhelmed by the whole experience and seeing her loved boyfriend on stage, he was so amazing. Everytime he blew her kisses or winked all she could do was repeat it back to him. It was nearing the end of the concert when she noticed that all boys exited the stage...but Nick. She knew what he was going to do, she knew that he was going to do something for her...she just didn’t know what.
“Now,” Nick yelled into the mic, “Now I am going to do something VERY special, for someone VERY special. Normally I don’t do this, but a woman that I love dearly came to our show tonight. This is her first and last show that she saw on this tour. But that’s not the reason I’m doing this, I’m doing this because I love her. Guys, can you help Kayla on-stage please?” he asked.
Kayla’s mouth dropped as a few boo’s came from the crowd, but the ear piercing screams did a good job hiding them. She stood up as two of their guards led her to the stairs of the stage and Nick held her hand as he walked her up.
“Nick what are you doing?” she questioned smiling.
She couldn’t help but be happy. He handed her a mic and then kissed her gently.
“Well go on, say ‘hi’,” he laughed.
“Hi Lexington! I see some familiar faces tonight, how is everyone doing?” she yelled into the mic.
The crowd pierced again and Nick just took her hand and they walked to the center of the circular stage, so everyone could see. Kayla looked and saw all the other guys now sitting with their girls, giving a thumbs up. She stuck her tongue out, knowing they knew what was about to happen. She looked over at Aubrey, who just sat in his chair half asleep, not even caring.
“Now I don’t think any of you will know this song, but I know that one person will,” he smiled coyly, “And I’m going to sing it to you.”
He turned towards her and she practically melted inside. He stood next to her, holding her hand as music began to play. She had never heard the tune but the beat was familiar and soon she knew exactly what the song was.
“When the visions around you bring tears to your eyes, When all that surrounds you are secrets and lies, I’ll be your strength, I’ll give you hope, Keeping your faith when it’s gone, The one you should call was standing here all along,” he belted out.
All she could do was let tears stream down her face as she looked deeply into his eyes as he sang more passionately.
“And I will take you in my arms, And hold you right where you belong, Till’ the day when my life is through, This I promise you, this I promise you.”
She saw the tears in the corners of his eyes and she just smiled even more. She looked at him, in his pink suit from the concert and his hair all sweaty, stuck to his face. She had never seen a more beautiful and loving person, she had never loved someone so strong. He looked at her and motioned for her to sing. She looked shocked at first but then let loose.
“I’ve loved you forever in lifetimes before, And I promised you never will you hurt anymore, I give you my word, I give you my heart, This is a battle we won, And with this bow forever has now begun,” Kayla sang strongly.
The crowd seemed to quiet down a bit, probably a little shocked by what a beautiful voice she had. No one knew that she could sing, no one but Nick. If anyone had been up on that stage they would see all the love protruding off of both of them, it was just pure amazing. Nick continued singing the last part of the song, “Just close your heart with these loving hands, You know this feeling won’t go away, Till’ the day my life is through, This I promise you, Every word I say is true this I promise you,” he sang emotionally.
When the music died down Kayla wiped the tears off of her face and his. At first she was afraid to show affection on the stage but she threw away the thought quickly. She watched as he lifted the mic to his mouth again and got down on one knee, reaching into his pocket. Kayla tensed up, she knew what he was doing. He opened up the box and Kayla saw the biggest ring she had ever seen, and the most beautiful.
“Kayla Charity Williams, will you marry me?” he asked into the mic.
Suddenly the crowd went nuts. Some girls screamed with happiness, others with anguish and disgust. Kayla nor Nick noticed it though, they were to wrapped up with each other.
“Yes, Nick, oh God yes!” she screamed into the mic and then threw it down as he slipped the ring on her finger.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him passionately in front of everyone. Her hands moved to his face cupping it in her hands and just smiling widely. He pulled her close again, tears streaming down his face. They watched as all the boys and their girlfriends came on-stage and began to congratulate all of them, trying to get the crowd to scream louder. Kayla watched as balloons began to pour from the ceiling and just continued to kiss Nick. They pulled away long enough for the boys to bow one last time.
“Thank you all for an amazing tour and concert! We had a blast!” AJ yelled as they all ran off stage.
