“Just fucking great,” she moaned out loud, “I haven’t seen Brian or Kevin in a couple of months and already they forget about me...what fame does to people.”
She sat down in one of the many seas of chairs and piled her bags down in front of her. She had to have a little cart to push them she had so many, but she made sure to pack EVERYTHING, knowing she wouldn’t ever see any of it again if she didn’t. Kayla took out her Journal and started to write as she had in the plane.
Dear Journal;
She looked around again and finally she saw Brian run through the doors at the far end of the airport. He looked to have on his boxers and a tee-shirt. She felt awful to have made herself an inconvenience, but at the same time she couldn’t help the tears that just began to fall. She let out an un-expected scream and then started jumping up and down to signal herself out. He ran faster as her saw her motioning him. As he got to her he just pulled her into his arms and twirled her around kissing her on the cheek.
“Kay Bear, God, it’s been so long!” Brian smiled.
“Bri, Bri it’s only been a few months!” she laughed a little.
“A couple? Try like ten! I am just glad that there is internet and phone!” he laughed, “Ahh, Kay Bear it’s so good to see you again!”
He looked over and saw all the bags, “Woah, we don’t pack light do we?” he chuckled.
Suddenly she frowned and pulled out of his arms, if he only knew.
“Kay...Kayla did I say something wrong? I’m sorry, I was just joking about the whole packing light thing.”
He got very confused at why she suddenly was acting like this, it wasn’t the Kayla he knew.
“No, don’t worry about it Bri. Can we just go home now, I wanna see everyone,” she fake smiled.
“Sure...” he said with uneasiness in his voice.
The whole ride home was silent. Brian was so confused inside, normally Kayla was the type to fill him in with all the updates about life back in Lexington and talk about Aubrey non stop. He figured maybe she was just a little nervous, so he’d strike up conversation.
“So, how’s Aub?” he asked smiling.
She sat staring at him and then turned her head when he looked back. “I wouldn’t know.”
“Oh what are you talking about Kay? How is the guy?” he laughed.
“I wouldn’t know, OK BRIAN! God, please stop asking me fucking questions!” she yelled.
He looked at her with a hurt expression. “Kayla, this isn’t you...”
“No shit sherlock, now leave me alone, PLEASE! There’s a lot you don’t know, and your not going to find out by playing twenty questions with me!”
Brian just silently let a few tears fall as he pulled into the driveway of the huge house the guys all shared. They all had separate houses, but they also all owned one big one where they spent most of their time. It seemed as if before he could even turn off the car Kayla had grabbed a few bags and bee lined for the house.
“What is wrong with her?” he asked himself as he finished getting the rest of the bags.
“Hello?!” she yelled as she entered the house.
The look, smell, and surrounding in general was all the same, it was very homey. She sighed in relief, happy to know that she was away from Lexington, but also upset at the fact that things would only be getting worse. She suddenly heard foot steps and saw Kevin come running down the stairs.
“Oh my God, Kev Kev!” she yelled.
“Kay Bear man it’s been forever!” he smiled as he hugged her.
“I know!” she smiled as she gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Brian walked in with the rest of her bags and with an odd look on his face.
“What’s the matter Bri, couldn’t handle all the bags?” she laughed as Kevin joined in.
He just gave her a look as the other guys came bolting down the stairs.
“I thought I heard that voice!” AJ smiled, “Hey KK!”
“Bonerz! Wud up?!” she laughed as she gave him a hug.
“Hey don’t forget me!” Nick smiled, “Hey Kayla.”
“Hey Nicky Poos!” she laughed pushing his stomach.
“Only one person calls me that, and I don’t think I have been more happy to hear it,” he laughed.
She pulled away and wrapped her arms around Howie, “Hey D,” she smiled.
“Hey Kayla, how’s it hanging?”
“I wouldn’t know, why don’t you tell me?” she laughed.
They all started to crack up and Brian just looked, she was so much different then how she was in the car. Suddenly his thought would change. Kevin walked up in back of her and started tickling her sides.
Fear in Kayla began to rise and she pulled away, turning and giving him a look, “DON’T DO THAT!” she yelled. She became so defensive, scared that he would notice her secret.
“Kayla, what’s wrong? We always do that to each other,” Kevin said giving her a worried look.
“Yeah, well...well...now I just don’t like it anymore...” she said softly.
“So who would like to show me where I will be staying so I can take the day to unpack,” she smiled again.
“I will,” Nick smiled grabbing the rest of her bags from Brian giving him a ‘what’s going on’ look.
As they heard Nick and Kayla get upstairs completely AJ, Kevin and Howie began to ask Brian what was happening with Kayla.
“I don't know. We were in the car and all of a sudden she became so mean and cruel, but then she was normal Kayla again, something’s wrong...very wrong. Was Joan any different last night?” he asked Kevin.
“No, but she said that I should keep an eye on her because she’s a ‘handful’.”
“I don’t know, but we will get it out of her tonight,” AJ sighed.
“This is your room Kay,” Nick smiled helping her put down her bags.
“Wow, this is huge, and my own bathroom, not bad. You guys know how to treat a lady,” she grinned.
“Yeah, so do you want me to help un-pack?” he offered.
“No that’s OK, I’m a’ight,” she half smiled at him.
“OK, so how are you and Aub doin’?” Nick asked sitting down on her bed.
“Why is EVERYONE asking me? God, Nick just get out, all right?! Tell everyone I am un-packing for the day and to leave me alone,” she murmured.
“Kayla, what is your problem, this is the second time you have snapped like that? Do I have to tickle it out of you?” he laughed.
“GET OUT! I am SERIOUS Nick!” she yelled again, physically pushing him away.
He gave her a concerned look and then left quietly not getting a word in edge wise. She closed the door and locked it. Kayla fell to her new bed and just let the tears pour out.
“DAMNIT! UGH, I HATE LIFE, IT FUCKING SUCKS!” she screamed loud, but not loud enough for people to hear downstairs.
“Guys Kayla just snapped at me upstairs, telling me to get out and for everyone to leave her alone for the day. Do you guys know something I don’t?” Nick asked.
“I wish we did, but no. We will figure it out later, just leave her be. Something’s bothering her and I think she needs some quite time,” Brian sighed.
